What your site needs.

There are three things (at a minimum) a website needs to have in 2023. A website needs to be easy-to-use (for customers and the website owner), mobile-friendly, and optimized for search engines. Each website built at Bigfoot Website Designs includes training and guidance on how to use your new site, pre-configured pages to be mobile-friendly for customers accessing your site on their mobile phones, and optimized URLs, headers, page titles, meta descriptions, and alt text for each of your pages.

Easy-to-use

Our goal is to make your website look great and easy for you to use. As your business changes and grows your site should be able to keep up and quickly adapt to your changes. We build on Squarespace because it removes the need to know how to code and still produces a great-looking site.

Easy to use.

Why do we love Squarespace? Because it’s easy to use and every site comes out looking great. As a business owner, you have enough things to worry about and Squarespace’s “drag-and-drop” editor means you spend no time worrying about code and more time focused on your business.

We’ve worked in different content management systems such as Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, and Wix, and we’ve found Squarespace to be the most consistent and easy-to-use. Additionally, they offer tons of integrations for e-commerce, finance, and marketing and sales aspects of your business, which means everything can connect and less time spent in extra tools.

After your website design project is finished, you receive a guide on how to change and update your new site and a tutorial led by Bigfoot Website Designs.

Mobile-friendly.

It’s no secret, your customers are looking for your business on their phone. In many situations a customer’s first experience with your business could be finding you on their phone based on your local location and relevance for their search. All the more reason why having your site be mobile-friendly is crucial in providing your current and prospective customers a great experience with your business.

As of 2019, more searches are now taking place on mobile phones than on desktop/laptop (see source). Our website designs use Squarespace’s easy to use “Mobile View”, which shows you how your site looks on a mobile phone AND it lets you edit the view right then and there without the need to know how to code for responsive design.

This means we ensure your site looks great for desktop and mobile users before we launch your site. It also means you will be able to build your own pages after we finish your project as your business changes and grows, without the need to source another designer on the project.

Mobile vs. Desktop Internet Traffic

Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

With the rise and growing domination of mobile traffic, local search has become a fundamental part of small- and medium-sized businesses’ success. Once you provide your website copy and imagery you want included on your new (or migrated) website, Bigfoot Website Designs will review your copy and tackle crucial on-page elements your site needs to be optimized for search. Additionally, your copy will be reviewed with suggested changes/improvements to help localize and strengthen your pages to rank for searches conducted by local customers.

While every Squarespace site comes ready-to-go with analytics pre-built into your pages, we can also set up your business with a Google Analytics and Google Search Console account. Depending on how technical your site may be, Google Analytics can show more metrics on what your customers are doing when they visit your site. Google Search Console tells you more about what your customers searched for to find your site. It’s also important to make sure your site pages get indexed so they can rank for your customer’s searches.

Thankfully, we will cover everything together around what your site needs for SEO based on your needs and goals related to your customers.

Organic Search is most often the primary source of website traffic.
